Cody Ringle

I got involved in exercise when I was 13 as a byproduct of getting bullied as a kid. I had low self-esteem, I was picked on for being overweight in my early teens and it made me bitter for a lot of years. It gave me a chip on my shoulder in a really unhealthy way. I created some toxic relationships with food and fitness that I carried into adulthood.

I spent a lot of time, effort, and energy pulling at the threads of the story that I had about myself to unravel why I made self-destructive decisions. In the early years of Fortitude Strength, I was still working through a lot of that so Fortitude Strength started like any other CrossFit Gym.

It was a hard daily group class workout and wildly mediocre coaching. Over the last 2 years, we have redesigned who we are and what we do. Fortitude Strength is no longer a gym. We have a gym, but we are not a gym. We can now help people in a way that we never could before because we are a professional coaching company. We choose to use personal training, group classes, nutrition, and 1 on 1 coaching as the vehicle to help our clients create a better life.

Fitness has very little to do with physical exercise. I talking about mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. That is fitness. I know people who look good on the lake with their shirt off and they can slang some big weight at the gym but they are broken inside. They are struggling with old stories, emotions, and baggage or they have very real, physical pain from the way they exercise right now. To us, that is not fitness.

Our mission is to help people who feel unworthy gain self-confidence by finally prioritizing their health and fitness. It’s not just about exercise. It is so much more.
